Partnering with parents to provide education and care for under 5's

Your child is in safe hands

"Children thrive in their learning at this exceptional setting. Passionate, knowledgeable and experienced staff skilfully identify children's next steps in learning. The curriculum targets specific learning for individual children. Staff identify if a child may need additional support from the outset and work with families and external agencies to ensure all children, regardless of their starting
points, achieve the best possible outcomes. More-able children are supported in personalised learning projects which support their next steps in learning alongside their interests. Children make excellent progress."  Ofsted 2022

We recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children. All our staff members see themselves as partners with parents in providing education and care for their children. We operate a family links system where we work closely with children and their families.  There are many ways in which parents take part in making the setting a welcoming and stimulating place for children and parents, such as:
  • Exchanging knowledge about their children’s needs, activities, interests and progress with the staff
  • Helping at sessions
  • Family links, each child has their own designated adult who will liaise with the family
  • Sharing their own special interests with the children
  • Helping to provide, make and look after the equipment and materials used in the children’s play activities
  • Being part of the management of the preschool setting
  • Taking part in events and informal discussions about the activities and curriculum
  • Joining in community activities the pre school's involved in
  • Building friendships with other parents

Parents are encouraged to help us as and when they wish. Our association with parents help them to see what the day-to-day life of the setting is like and to join us in supporting the children to get the best out of their activities.

FAQs

Parent and kids
Can my child bring toys from home to preschool?

Children can bring small toys and items of interest for show and tell. Very small toys can be stored safely in your child’s own drawer, and larger toys can be put into the school office. However, Stokehill cannot be held responsible for any damage, or loss of any items that your child brings from home.

What about medication?

If your child requires any medication, please speak to a member of staff. You will be asked to fill in the medication permission form and to bring the medication into our school. You may also be asked to show our staff how to administer the medicine.
